Now On Facebook

Just to do what everyone seems to do with these things, a Facebook group has been started for this and the other outcome of the spitting rage on CiF, the Election Party Night group thing:

CiF Action Alert Groups

This site has been set up following a report in The Guardian that the police in the UK and various other official agencies and bodies are planning to work together to deploy spy drone aircraft as used in war zones such as Afghanistan to monitor what the public is doing.

Naturally, the impression given is that it will be in order to better police criminal activity and ant-social behaviour, but there is a growing sense that all government and establishment policies which involve technology tend to be hugely costly - the taxpayer footing the bill - and very quickly seep into other areas of people's lives, well beyond the original intention or the declared aims.

Following the article, there was almost universal outrage by the people who commented, along with a sense that there is very little which can be done on a practical level to encourage people to collectively take action to preserve and ensure their freedoms.

The purpose of this site is to allow people to follow ideas about what can be done concerning things which may be covered in The Guardian or other media which seem to demand a response beyond simply posting a comment before the discussion thread is closed after three days - or often less.

People often wish to act in some way, perhaps small and only once, but feel that they are very much alone and detached from others who may also be feeling the same.

Comment is Free is supposed to have some thirteen million users visiting its pages each month and it is sometimes seen that, when these people act together, things can actually get done, as witness the Atheist Bus Campaign.

So, this is a place for people to start making a collective noise when they see something is wrong and when their outrage seems to evaporate and disappear as soon as another thread starts.

You can use this place to point others towards what you are doing on a Facebook group or on your own site or to point up things which you think people should know about.

You all know how to comment, so start doing that, please, to get the ball rolling.

At the moment, if you want to write an article, please send it to:

and I will copy and paste it here.
